Question and Answers

Q: What is the difference between Tunnel to Internal, Secure Browse, Full VPN, and Unrestricted ?

A: Tunnel to Internal is used with VPN modes (Secure Browse /Full VPN) to send traffic to NetScaler.

Secure Browse is used for apps that use HTTP protocol. A request like GET /index.html to backend is rewritten as GET /Securebrowse/<http/https>/backend/index.html. When NetScaler Gateway gets this request, it strips the backend information and makes a HTTP/HTTPS request to the backend. NetScaler Gateway then fetches the response and sends it back to the client.

Full VPN is used when the application uses TCP/UDP connections.

Unrestricted is used when the connections are made directly from the application to the servers.

Q: When is Full VPN\Secure Browse recommended?

A: All HTTP based apps like WorxWeb need to use secure browse. Apps like Lync that use non- HTTP protocols need to use Full VPN.

Q: When using unrestricted mode, will the apps directly use 3G/WIFI to load the content ?

A: Yes, this is like using your native browser to connect to the URLs.
