Objective
This article describes how to change the hostname of a NetScaler appliance to reflect the same as that in the license file.
Requirements
To complete this task, you need to install the following utilities:

A secure FTP client, such as WinSCP.

An SSH utility, such as PuTTy, Reflections, or SecureCRT.
Background
At times, you might need to change the hostname of a NetScaler appliance to reflect the license file installed on the appliance. By default, the hostname for the NetScaler VPX appliance is ns. However, the license file specifies the MAC address as the hostname for the appliance. This is specifically required for Access Gateway Enterprise Edition licenses.
Instructions
The hostname of a NetScaler appliance can be changed through the Configuration Utility.

Select?? Configuration?? >?? System?? >?? Setup?? Wizard?? >?? Network?? Config.
Notes:- For NetScaler 10.1, hostname can be changed with the help of first-time setup wizard also. Refer to Citrix eDocs - Using the First-time Setup Wizard for more information.
- For NetScaler 10.5, refer to Citrix eDocs - Using the First-time Setup Wizard to change the host name.

Specify the Host Name.
Note: This change is also reflected in the rc.conf file. It has the same effect as making changes directly to the rc.conf file by using shell prompt:
root@test1# cat rc.conf
hostname="test"root@test#
The hostname can also be changed from the command line interface of the appliance.

Switch to the shell prompt.

Run the following command to change to the?? /nsconfig?? directory:
# cd /nsconfig

Display the content of the directory.

If content exists, run the following command to open the?? rc.conf?? file in a text editor, such as the vi editor:
# vi rc.conf -

Save and close the file.
